Junior Professorship (W1) with Tenure Track „Radio technologies for automated and connected vehicles“

The Technische Universität Ilmenau, Department of Electrical Engineering and Infor-mation Technology, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Radio technologies for automated and connected vehicles, to be filled from October 2020.
We seek a personality with excellent scientific qualification and didactic competences, who is prepared to represent the field of modern radio technologies with focus on applications in future mobility, both in education and research.

In research, we expect interdisciplinary and cross-departmental activities with major impact on the profile lines of the TU Ilmenau „Intelligent sensing and precision metrology“ and „Complex systems and data-intensive engineering“. The appropriate applicant is renowned for research on radio technologies oriented towards hardware architectures and measurement technology. One focus of the research shall be on the convergence of air interfaces for various wireless technologies (sensor fusion) under consideration of available installation spaces and appropriate interfaces for data processing (sensor data fusion, AI algorithms). Sound connections to industry as well as experiences with third-party funding are desirable.

The TU Ilmenau as well as their partners in industry and academia offer excellent infrastructural conditions and potential for cooperation in the aforementioned areas. In terms of the alignment of this professorship, accordingly, emphasis is put on synergies with ongoing or planned research activities.

In academic education, the professorship shall take responsibility for courses in the specialisation phases of various Master and Diploma programs with teaching portfolios in German and English languages. Radio, millimeter wave, and antenna technologies with applications in sensing or other wireless functionalities for automotive engineering and automation shall be accentuated. Essential requirements are pedagogical aptitude and the willingness to make a significant contribution to the further development of the study programmes. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in academic self-administration.

This professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States (https://www.tenuretrack.de/en/the-tenure-track-programme/the-federal-government-lander-programme). The recruitment requirements and conditions of § 89 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act apply. The position is associated with a tenure track appointment to a W3 professorship.
